Knicks Quick Fix: After Preseason game 1

Knicks looked pretty good in the preseason opener vs the Nets. We got the usual from David Lee (near a double double-20/9) Toney Douglas looked really aggressive on defense as well as taking the ball to the basket. Now I read a lot of articles complaining about Gallinari's shooting and they all seem idiotic to me. The guy might have the best IQ on the team and he is already being criticized for being a great passer. The shots will come no doubt, I just thought the focus should have been much more revolved around the impressive poise and ball handling skills he showed rather than the amount of shots he took.

Al Harrington who said he fell victim to a lot of 4th quarter fatigue last season, came to camp in great shape this year and it showed. He looked slimmer, played stronger, and was tough down the stretch.

Knicks had a double digit lead in the 3rd quarter and when it shrunk down to a 2 point lead, D'Antoni called a timeout and the team immediately responded. I liked seeing this because that is what good teams do. The NBA is a game of runs and they are bound to happen, but being able to weather the storm and doing to quickly is what separates the good teams from the bad and the great teams from the good. I truly believe that the Knicks this year can be a good team. I feel they finally have the right mix of leadership and seasoned talent for them to crack the top 8 in the Easter Conference. This is not a guarantee by any means, but right now, with this roster, i think they can do it.

Darko Milicic looked pathetic, I have no words for him.

Wilson (my main man) scored over 20 and seemed to be free and easy, showing no ill effects from off season ankle surgery. He still lacks moves off the dribble which is something he will definitely need to take his game to the next level. However his jumper looked more fluid and he seemed to have a comfortable confidence in his range as well as his pull up. He shot 7-13 overall and hit a couple 3's.

I'm sure you want me to talk about Jared Jefferies. I will say yes the box score is accurate, he did hit 3 three pointers and that is all I will say. He has a long way to go before I say anything remotely positive about him on this blog.

We play the Celtics this Friday in Boston, I'll be curious to see if there are any lineup changes or if maybe we get to see Eddy Curry. I'd like to see a lineup be settled by the 3rd or 4th preseason game.
