Zach Randolph Returns Tonight

Never liked him, never will. The guy is the epitome of what I loathe in most athletes today. On the other hand, he can flat out score and will probably torch Lee and the Knicks for a nice 35 and 18 stat line. Clippers suck, but they are 1-0 against the Knicks so you never know what could happen tonight at the Garden where recently the Knicks have dropped to a .500 mark (18-18). I would expect boos to reign over him, but given the Knicks recent past, he might possess brighter memories.

If You Missed Any of Legends Night Watch it Here

LJ

It was awesome to see him last night, arguably my favorite Knick ever. Not best Knick ever, people I said my favorite. I loved the way he checked his ego at the door when he came here in 1996 and became a team player focused on winning a championship. He even removed his flashy gold tooth. I hear he is doing a lot of work for the Dallas community that he grew up in. I really think New York made Larry grow as a person and that's always great to see. He also lost a considerable amount of muscle mass, I think he's a vegan so that would explain it along with his career being over for about 6 years now.

The Other Van Gundy Lashes Out On Knicks Brass.....Again

ESPN.COM reported that Stan Van Gundy had some things to say about the Knicks front office after the magic's 106-102 victory over the Knicks last night on legends night. This isn't the first time the fat penguin has opened his mouth about the Knicks as an organization, something he has never been a part of, he could be bitter or hold a grudge due to the break up that occurred with his older brother. Bottom line is I feel that penguin man speaks from unfair vantage point each time. Sort of like kicking a guy when he's down is what he seems to do, which has to be looked upon as classless. Last night was a great event, it was the first time the Knicks have has any sort of an 'Old Timers' day, hosting all their legends under one roof at the same time. Again, Penguin Man aka Ron Jeremy lookalike may have some points. It IS ridiculous that the knicks have not invited Patrick Ewing to be some sort of a coach or offered him any front office position. At the same time, the Knicks front office has changed faces and personnel more than Destiny's Child did in the 90's. How can anyone have any type of loyalty without longevity? I wish they did, but they really don't. It wasn't the same man who drafted Ewing that traded him away the summer of 2000. Penguin man should worry about his first real winning opportunity that he's in right now with Orlando. In Miami he was spoon fed a championship contender by Pat Riley and failed to win a title with them.

Here is the article thanks to ESPN.com

"I'm not trying to needle anybody or tell them their business," Van Gundy said after Orlando beat the Knicks 106-102. "What's amazing is they honor the guy, I don't know, every year. They honor him, but while they've got a lot of ex-players in their organization, they've never made any move to try to hire him. That to me is amazing."

Ewing was honored at halftime, when the Knicks presented seven of their former players with "legends awards." Introduced last, he received a loud ovation from the fans, who seem to appreciate him even more than they did when he was playing in New York from 1985-2000.

Van Gundy isn't sure the organization does.

"I mean, I don't know. It's sort of back and forth," Van Gundy said. "They seem to like you. The fans certainly love him. The organization to me sort of pretends to appreciate him and like him."

Ewing was a favorite of Van Gundy's brother, Jeff, who coached the Knicks from March 1996 until resigning in December 2001.

Ewing is in his second season on Van Gundy's staff after previously serving as an assistant coach in Washington and Houston. He is credited for his work with centers Yao Ming and the Magic's Dwight Howard, who came out early to watch the halftime ceremony -- none of the Knicks players did.

Yet he was apparently never a serious candidate for the Knicks' coaching job last year when Isiah Thomas was fired. Meanwhile, New York did interview former Knicks guard Mark Jackson, even though he has no coaching experience.

"This is a guy that not only was the face of their franchise, but when your best player works as hard as he does and competes as hard as he does, he gives your team a chance to be great. They say great things about him, but when it's time to put up or shut up, they don't do anything," said Van Gundy, who recently feuded with Shaquille O'Neal over his comments about O'Neal's flopping.

"So you know, it's been amazing and it's been our fortune in Orlando, that it's pretty amazing that with the ex-players that they hire here to me, there hasn't been a move. There are other ex-players that got interviews for their head coaching job, but then a guy who's been in the league with three different teams as an assistant can't get an interview."

Ewing has said he wants a top job in the NBA and there was some thought he would end up back in New York last year, either as the head coach or perhaps as an assistant on Mike D'Antoni's staff.

"I'm just like any person who is coaching in this league," Ewing said before the game. "I'm just looking for an opportunity, that's all."

*Injury Update*

I'm sure you've all heard that Gallo will probably be shut down for the rest of the year by now.

More upsetting news is both Wilson Chandler and Al Harrington are questionable for tonight important game vs New Jersey. This would mean more minutes for Jared and Q, which is not in the best interest for the Knicks.

12:39pm-Wilson has now been listed at probable. Harrington's ankle sprain seems to be the more serious of the two injuries and he remains as questionable for tonight's game.

3:06pm-Chris Duhon is expected back tonight but the word is he may not start. Havent heard anything negative thus far, looks like Al will play tonight, he's been listed in every projected lineup I've seen for the game, so that's good news although it's not official yet. Wilson should be available.
Devin Harris will not play tonight, and Sean Williams is unlikely to play as well.

Knicks HAVE to Beat New Jersey

There is no time for a let down game and there is no reason the Knicks shouldn't be pumped up and ready to face the Nets tomorrow. Devin Harris will likely miss his second straight game with a shoulder injury, a definite big blow to the Nets. But any sort of a let down game cannot be put past these Knicks. Looking back on the season, there are 4 games that the Knicks lost inexcusably.

1. December 26th vs Minnesota, a 13 point home loss to the T-Wolves who had lost 13 straight.

2. February 11th vs LA Clippers, Knicks led the whole way against a terrible team. Should have gotten the job done, no excuses. The game was in hand late in the 4th quarter and the Knicks collapsed, allowed the game to go into overtime where they were outplayed.

3. February 28th vs Miami, Knicks led by 16 late in the third quarter and then lost the 4th quarter by 20 points. Wade took over scoring 15 points of a 19-0 run by the Heat.

4. March 7th vs Bobcats, It was a must win game against a team jockeying for position with us. Poor performance especially at home. Knicks never led and lost to a team they should have beaten.

Now it's time to put those games behind and move on. 4 games coming up between now and Monday, and it could mean playoffs or no playoffs for the Knicks. I'd expect 2-2 at least. Orlando is a better team and a tough opponent for us. The only advantage we hold is the home and home factor, which at an NBA level usually ends in a split. Forget Orlando for now, beat NJ then kill Sacramento, and I like our chances. Teams we are competing with don't exactly have walks in the park for the remainder of the season.

A Word From Isiah Thomas

ESPN citing the Associated Press:

LAS VEGAS -- Isiah Thomas said on Sunday that he has been doing OK and helping the New York Knicks prepare for the NBA draft, since police responded to an accidental overdose at his home last October.

Police were called to the home Oct. 24 and said they found a man passed out on the floor after an accidental overdose on sleeping pills. Authorities have not publicly identified the man as Thomas.

Thomas was in Las Vegas to tape a television appearance with Bob Knight, his former coach at Indiana, and sportscaster Billy Packer.

Thomas said that everything has been going well for him personally, and that he hasn't missed any significant time in his work for the Knicks.

"I've still been very active, seeing a lot of games and doing a lot of scouting and looking forward to helping [Knicks president Donnie Walsh] with the draft," Thomas told The Associated Press.

Thomas was fired late last season from his positions as coach and team president, but Walsh kept him on in a consulting and advising role.

Thomas said he was scouting at the Pac-10 tournament last week in Los Angeles.

Thomas mingled with a few fans, smiled for photos and signed autographs before and during the filming of "Survive and Advance" at the sports book of the Wynn Las Vegas casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

A police report released the week after the overdose said the person who called 911 believed the person who had overdosed had stopped breathing.

In the report, a police officer says he went to Thomas' home in Harrison, N.Y., and helped another officer who was administering oxygen to a person lying on the kitchen floor. Harrison is about 30 miles from midtown Manhattan.

Thomas has said it was his teenage daughter who required treatment, but Harrison Police Chief David Hall forcefully rebuked that and said he did not understand why "they're throwing her under the bus."

Thomas won NBA titles as a player with the Detroit Pistons in 1989 and 1990, and an NCAA championship with Indiana in 1981. He joined the Knicks as the team president in 2003 and became coach in June 2006.

Last season, Thomas drew the wrath of fans in New York and was dismissed with a 56-108 record with the Knicks. Overall, he is 187-223 as an NBA coach, leading the Indiana Pacers to the playoffs in three straight years from 2000-03.

UGH YOU ARE SO UGLY, DELONTE

Knicks Will Share the Big Apple in 2011-2012

This makes me sick in one way and giddy in another. Giddy in the sense that the rivalry will be insane. Brooklyn deserves it's own team and now they've got it. Barclays’ Arena will be their home court and the subway ride there will be fun. Timing is impeccable with the marquee game coming up on Wed. at MSG. The two teams will be separated by a half game, either way depending on what the Nets do tonight in Denver. Anyway, having somewhat of a subway-series type atmosphere will be cool. Hopefully both teams are good (at least the Knicks) and have a strong fan base.
Why does it make me sick? Simply because it worries me. Worries me to the point of the Knicks losing New York. Brooklyn is up and coming in every way imaginable and the last 5 years for the Knicks have seemed like an unforgettable nightmare. What if this team comes in, signs Lebron and wins a ring while the Knicks continue to be less than mediocre? Being the only team the city has to watch has really helped the Knicks stay atop the list as the most profitable franchise in the NBA. This move could change that, this move makes 2010 a thousand times more important. I hate that Jay Z (love his music) has any involvement whatsoever in the NBA and I hate it more since he is chummy with Lebron.
Long story short, I hope the Knicks assume the Yankees role of the New York rivalry as the team with seniority as well as the team with more success. That way I can root for both New York City 'Varsity' teams.

Knicks Pick up a Game on 4 Teams With the 'W'

Glad the Knicks survived this trap game. It turned out to be very beneficial for their playoff hopes as well, Bulls, Bobcats, Nets and Pacers all lost tonight and the Knicks 8 point victory inches them closer to that 8th seed. Chandler was the star with 24 and 12 and some really timely buckets down the stretch. He seems to be making a habit of playing big in the 4th quarter and isnt afraid to take the big shot.
Duhon was a DNP tonight and that's probably a good thing. Nate started at pg and played pretty well, missed a lot of FT's down the stretch but it didnt hurt the Knicks.
Sunday is Cleveland to finish the road trip which the Knicks are currently 3-1 on. 3-2 wouldn't be so bad, i think we all would have settled on that last week. Duhon will miss Sunday's game as well to nurse the back and the ankle.

La Nación-Delfino Article Translated

The poor campaign by Toronto, next to last in the East, will motivate some substantial changes for the next season. Included in those changes is the possible return of Carlos Delfino, now in Khimki, from Russia, with a right shoulder injury. "Carlos has fixed his departure from Khimki for $500k, but he hopes for an offer bigger than $400k to return to the NBA. It would be with either the raptors or the Knicks, they are the teams showing interest." Carlos Cerisola, Delfino's representative affirmed this yesterday.

Argentine Newspaper Claims Knicks Look to Sign Carlos Delfino

Good Shooter, above average athlete with good combo guard size. Wouldn't be a bad signing, but I'm hearing $4M as the offer. I don't see how that makes any sense. Terms of the deal haven't been disclosed as far as contract length or anything like that. After all this is just a vague rumor as of now. Carlos Delfino spent time with the Pistons and Raptors and is 26 years old. He hasn't played in the NBA since last season.

An Argentine newspaper that said the Knicks “have expressed interest” in signing Delfino to a 4 million dollar deal.

Delfino and Manu Ginobili won the gold 4 years ago.

This would be insurance for Chris Duhon who is clearly battling injury.
