Nate and Lee To Sign One Yr Deals w/ Knicks

Blazers Sign Andre Miller
He signed a multi year deal with the Portland Trailblazers. Oh well, just hope Walsh isn't seriously gonna offer Sessions a five yr deal...
Miller Gets Offer From Blazers
My thoughts on all this? Keep your eyes on Kirk Hinrich, Knicks fans. I know the Bulls lost Ben Gordon, but watch out, Hinrich wants minutes and with rose there, he isn't likely to be very happy.

Going back to the Yankee game tonight to see if they can keep their streak alive. I'll blog ya later with to the minute updates if I hear anything new.

David Lee Speaks...
"At the start of this process I was really excited to be in New York, I thought it wouldn't be too difficult to work something out, but now we're forced to start looking at different options with sign-and trades and stuff like that," Lee told ESPN.com. "I'm sure it's going to be something we're not expecting, it's going to be something that's very complicated. But my gut would be that it's going to be difficult at this point to get a long-term deal done with New York, that's my gut."
"But my gut changes about every three hours, so I really have no idea."
"Going forward I thought I could still be a big piece of the puzzle -- and it's not as though I'm looking at a max contract, or talking about either me OR LeBron. I thought it was something where we could get something done and they'd still have more than enough left over for what they wanted in the future, but apparently there's some disagreement on that -- just on how the Knicks want to move forward. And I think at this point they're not completely sure what they're going to do and how they want to proceed," Lee said.
"I'm not going to go with angry or disrespected, that's not the way we feel," Lee said. "I understand the Knicks have a lot of different factors they're considering. At this point they're looking toward the future and trying to figure out exactly what they want to do, and possibly even confused about what they want to do. I don't know that they're 100 percent sure right now, just from what Donnie is saying, that they 100 percent know what direction they want to go in. You've seen that with the different guys [Jason Kidd and Grant Hill] they've been trying to get, and they haven't gotten them.
"It's no fun right now because it's the next five to six years of my life, but it should be fun to see what does come out of this."

Jamaal Tinsley Released
Tinsley is injury prone but also a proven PG in the NBA. His assists numbers are always high (when he plays) but like Sessions, he lacks an outside jumpshot. His handle is great of course, he's from New York, we all have great handles.
Wilson Chandler Update
This is big for the Knicks as Wilson is a key cog in any sort of success that they have this year. I think he could have dominated summer league, would it have been worth it for him, who knows. He is further along right now than Gallinari is at this point who certainly would have benefited from the summer games.
Nate and Knicks Close to a Deal
I'd like Nate back, he had a really good year last year. I'd really like to hear from the guy though although turning down the Greece offer and remaining here would speak volumes to me.

Knicks Trying to Get the 'Point'
Andre Miller apparently has two offers, one coming from the Knicks and the other from the Blazers who actually offered him a two year deal as opposed to our one year MLE offer. I supposed the Knicks are now a longshot to land Miller and that probably why they have been so aggressive with Ramon Sessions.
I've heard the deal on the table for Sessions is as long as four years. As for the amount plus clauses I am clueless.
I'd prefer Miller over Sessions and I might even prefer the status quo over a four year deal toward anybody. I've scouted Sessions on the blog, they guy can play, like Nate, he's had success on a bad team. There are still many questions to his future along with some blatant holes in his game.
Still no word on our "disrespected" restricted free agents.
More later....

$22M For Nash to Stay in PHX
Ramon Sessions to Recieve Offer From Knicks
He had a good year last year with the Bucks, as I've said in my previous post about him so I see nothing prohibiting him from thriving in the system we have here. Not sure if the Andre Miller interest has died and gone to heaven yet, but I would like to see the Knicks get this PG situation settled already. It's clear they need help there, question is who are they going to call upon for it. Will Duhon be a bench player or are they simply looking for backup help? He certainly won't start if we acquire Miller, who knows what happens if we get Sessions. Maybe by midseason a chance occurs. I'll be interested to see what happens come tuesday.

Knicks Trying To Land PG Ramon Sessions via Sign and Trade
Sessions had some of his best games against NY last year. He has good size and a very nice assist to turnover ratio, 3:1. He was a D-leaguer for a while and had a breakout year last year for the Bucks. At 6-3 he is bigger than most PG's but still has above average quickness. Not sure who the Knicks are offering to get him, but I don't mind the idea of us getting some PG help. Ramons Sessions is the first D-league player to ever record a triple double in NBA history. he did it vs the Lakers.
Nate Offer Could Earn Him Up To $10M Per
With endorsements included, the offer that the Olympiakos have made for Nate could earn him $20M over two years. That seems like it would be very hard to turn down for Nate. There is no way he would ever see that type of money in the NBA. If this offer is official, i think we can kiss Nate goodbye, at least for the next 2 years.

This report is only rumored right now but I am leaning toward it being more true than false...

Rubio Talking Buyout with T-Wolves

I guess he didn't want to play in Minny after all. At least that's what it seems like. ESPN reported this earlier:
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves cannot do much financially to help Ricky Rubio with a multimillion-dollar buyout of his contract with DKV Joventut in Spain.
So team president David Kahn is heading across the Atlantic to meet with the team personally in hopes of lowering the $6.6 million price tag that has threatened to keep the wunderkind point guard in Europe for at least next season.
Kahn confirmed his plans to travel to Spain in a text message to The Associated Press on Thursday but declined further comment, including when the trip will take place. It was first reported by YahooSports.com.
Rubio, who was drafted fifth overall by the Timberwolves in June, is still under contract with Joventut for the next two seasons. After helping Spain to a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics and playing in the Spanish ACB since the tender age of 14, the 18-year-old is ready to test his skills in the NBA.
The one thing holding him back appears to be money. Rubio made less than $100,000 playing for Joventut last season, so it is no surprise that the prospect of being on the hook for millions of dollars before he even plays a game in the United States would give him pause.
Further complicating the matter is a rule in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement that stipulates the Timberwolves can only pay $500,000 of that large sum to help offset the cost.
From the day Kahn drafted Rubio, to the delight of the Timberwolves fan base, the new president has taken a pragmatic approach to a sticky situation. He said the young and rebuilding team would be willing to wait a year, or even two, if Rubio could not reach an agreeable buyout agreement with Joventut.
Before joining the NBA, Kahn was an attorney at the law firm Proskauer Rose, the same firm that produced NBA commissioner David Stern. That experience could help him as the Timberwolves try to navigate what he has called "a thorny" legal issue.
"We will be totally supportive of Ricky and his family and [agent Dan] Fegan in any way, shape or form," Kahn said the day after Rubio was drafted. "If there's anything we can do to be of assistance or of help, as long as it is within the rules, we will."
Tim Thomas?....Not Again....
David Lee Gets Offer From Greece
I hope the NBA addresses this issue with haste. Losing it's players would be bad for business, not just bad for the Knicks who could very easily lose it's two most popular and talented players this summer.
With the possibility of losing Nate looming, I would really like Donnie Walsh to move ahead and send that offer to Andre Miller. The one year deal for $5.8M seems like a bargain to me. I've already expressed my feelings on Miller as a durable and capable PG as well as being a significant upgrade from Chris Duhon. Free agents aren't just going to fall into the Knicks' lap. We need to win and we need to improve and the only way to do that is to improve the roster. Thus far the Knicks have not really done this. Other than the two rookies we acquired, who don't really have much of an opportunity to turn around this franchise, the Knicks have remained idle for what could be a little bit too long.
Let's see how they approach the two restricted free agents (Lee and Nate) and then go from there. More on the Lee offer and the Andre Miller situation as soon as I hear anything.......

Gallinari Update
Las Vegas, NV - For Danilo Gallinari, the road back begins here, on the sidelines of Valley High School, putting his sweet-stroke jumper on display once again while the Knicks Summer League squad goes through its full-court paces just a few feet away. The distance is symbolic. Just three months removed from back surgery, Gallinari has not been cleared to participate in contact drills, so he won’t see any Summer League game action. But he’ll still be a major presence throughout the week, working on his shot, regaining his stamina and strengthening his back under the watchful eyes of Assistant Coach, Player Development Greg Brittenham and Performance Specialist Dave Hancock.
The sixth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Gallinari’s rookie season was dotted with a series of impressive outings but ultimately limited to just 28 games – and 6.1 points per game -- due to back pain. He was sidelined for most of the season’s first half, and didn’t play after March 15.
“It was a little bit frustrating because when you play with pain, play just 28 games in an 82-game season, it’s not easy mentally or physically,” says the Knicks’ 6-foot-10 Italian import, who turns 21 next month. “But I think it was a positive experience and a real nice experience for my first year. I learned a lot of things, so I’m ready to go for my second season.”
After consulting with doctors both in the U.S. and in Italy, Gallinari underwent successful back surgery on April 7. The laminotomy, performed by Dr. Patrick O’Leary, was a surgical procedure that shaved the boney plate surrounding a nerve root.
Now comes the latest step in his return.
“I’m working on conditioning,” says Danilo. “I’m working on strengthening my back for sure, and I’m working on lifting some weights with our strength coaches.”
Although Gallinari’s rookie season was an abbreviated one, New Yorkers saw enough of both his game and his outgoing personality to quickly adopt him as one of their own. The feeling turned out to be mutual.
Lakers Remove Odom Offer From the Table
Maybe the signing of SF Ron Artest is the reason they consider Odom expendable, but I can't really understand why they would want to let go two of their most important championship pieces walk away. Is Artest their plan to replace both Odom and Ariza? That's a gamble if you ask me. I would love for Artest to be a Knick, but it's a little different when you're adding him to an already successful recipe.
Dallas and Miami have reportedly made offers to Odom for undisclosed amounts.
Report: Nate Gets 2Yr Offer From Greece
12:01pm-It's officially announced that Nate did receive an offer from the Greek team, with $10M. His camp does not seem to be interested in the qualifying offer provided by the Knicks despite his first option being to stay in the NBA and remain in New York.

Almond was impressive from the outside, making 3 of 6 three point shots. As far as the two first rounders they were great but weren't busts either. Hill's jump shot looked pathetic but he didn't let it bog him down as he was still aggressive making post moves toward the basket. He seemed to particularly like the slight spin move drop step across the lane that he went to against Thabeet a couple of times in the second half. Toney Douglas couldn't throw the ball in the ocean but he dished out 11 assists and didn't turn the ball over once. His defensive instinct were also sharp with 2 steals.

Olympiakos Look to 'Greece' Nate
Things are getting very interesting here with all the talk of Boozer and Andre Miller plus free agents signings and what not. It seems players and their agents are formulating new strategies to 'beat the system.'
Going overseas might be the most beneficial strategy, financially. So again i ask.......HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?!?!!!
