Eddy Curry Money Situation

I didn't really want to blog about this Eddy Curry situation but some of these details are really alarmingly funny and stupid. Or maybe just stupid. Clearly Eddy seems to be victim of another blood thirsty accountant taking advantage of another uneducated athlete financially. Now this is accountant that Eddy is a 'victim' of is all alleged. This was the story that came out of Curry's camp and they have also stated that they will proceed in suing the accountant, Lamont Carter. Curry claims that for the better part of five years, Carter has not been honest in paying Curry's bills on time or in full. Curry fired Carter in 2008. There is no doubt in my mind that off the court Curry seems to be a genuinely good guy.

He's just silly with his spending.

$115K for a 7-carat engagement ring

$33K for a pair for diamond earrings

$285K for a diamond and gold chain

$4.5M for a mansion in Chicago in which his family shares with him

The spending also includes a garage of over 10 cars which includes multiple Range Rovers, Rolls-Royces and Cadillacs. Evidently, Curry likes toys, but seems to have no sense of reality. I have to agree with Kareem's philosophy that these millionaire athletes are anointed at too young of an age. Curry has been a millionaire since the age of 19. That's not a lot of time to learn some values of spending and being responsible. I'm sure Curry is not the only NBA 'casualty' in this category. I think the NBA should look into this matter and school the kids that enter the league a little better. It will take responsibility and attention from both the league and the player himself.
